Flash Date

11th February 2007 - 5:55pm

The steps of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square.

GIRLS: Wear something pink or red
GUYS: Bring a flower or some chocolate
EVERYONE: Be there! Invite someone out for a drink! Spread the word!

So you’ve heard of flash-mobs right? At a specific time, 100s of people congregate at a chosen location, just for a few moments, and then they disappear again. It’s all very random and comes out of viral emails and texts, and basically confuses anyone not involved, much to the amusement of those who are involved. I believe the first one was held in a sofa shop – people were told to meet there at 4.07pm and admire a sofa for five minutes and then leave.

Well I want to take flash-mobbing to the next level. Please let me introduce the concept of FLASH DATE. At a certain time, on a certain day, at a certain well-chosen landmark, I want all the single people in London (and surrounding areas) to meet up. I think that the guys should bring a flower or a bar of chocolate, and the girls should wear something pink or red – just to avoid any confusion. We can all meet up, see if there is anyone who catches our eye, smile and perhaps go for a drink. I’m thinking Sunday 11th February so that if you do meet someone fabulous there is still time to ask them out for Valentine’s Day! Genius. I reckon 5.55pm because five is my lucky number, and a lot seems to come down to luck with these things. They do say you should make your own luck! Venue: In front of the steps of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square.

So. Now the Secret Plan™ is not so secret, it is time that you start spreading the word. Get all the single people you know and tell them about this grand plan. It will only be grand if you help me make it happen. Power to the people and all that! Let’s have a laugh.

Come and be part of my crazy world! (I'll head to the upstairs bar of the Chandos (nearby) for a drink afterwards too).
